Jack Pyburn waived by Bucs

It’s time for Jack Pyburn’s next step.

The former LSU Tiger was waived on Sunday by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He led the NFL with four preseason sacks. He’s also been named in the temporary restraining order against the NCAA and SEC as he and dozens of other former college student-athletes seek a fifth year of eligibility.

Pyburn could be claimed off waivers by another NFL team, or he could attempt to return to college. LSU could be a landing spot.

The NFL announced last week that players who return to college would be ineligible to play in the NFL in 2026-27. The would also be ineligible for the 2027 NFL Draft but would be free agents next offseason.

LSU opens its 2026 season with Clemson on Saturday.
