METAIRIE – The New Orleans Saints still have more than a week before they travel to open their season on the road against the Detroit Lions. At which time, they’ll hope to be as close to full strength as possible.
One position group that appears to need the most improvement early is running back where the Saints were down three of their four rushers from the active roster.
Here is the attendance from Wednesday’s practice:
Not Seen
- TE Oscar Delp
- RB Kendre Miller
- WR Cedric Tillman
- WR Trey Palmer
- RB Audric Estime
- K Charlie Smyth
- RB Alvin Kamara
Sidework
- EDGE Cameron Jordan
With Miller, Estime and Kamara all sidelined, Travis Etienne Jr. was the only running back from the active roster on the field. Though he was accompanied by both of the practice squad backs Zamir White and CJ Donaldson.
The team also brought back two familiar faces, as long expected. Wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr. and tight end Treyton Welch were back on the field after being added to the team’s practice squad.
Jordan, in the meanwhile, was seen walking around the practice field in a weighted vest. A good sign that he was present during the work period even if not yet participating.
