SEC Game day: What to watch for on Saturday

Week 1 is finally here, and we are finally just a few hours away from kickoff. Each and every week we’ll have a morning primer to get ready for the day’s action. Here’s the latest around the SEC and what to watch for.

Can’t spell “Bluffs” with LSU

Was Lane Kiffin bluffing this entire time? Last night the nearly two-week-long standoff between the SEC and LSU seemingly came to an end. Per league rules LSU had until the day before their first game to submit their new players who weren’t currently enrolled for their roster. Neither Dae’Quan Wright or Zxavian Harris were included on the roster before the first game. It should be noted however that both players are able to be added during the season as long as they’re both enrolled in classes at LSU, which they are.

Every FBS team is limited to 105 players, and LSU’s roster currently sits at 103 total players.

Who knows what’s next in this saga or what the timeline will be, but for now it seems like it’s time to focus on actual football in Baton Rouge. Thank God.

Is it the heat or the humidity? Both

Last week Southern Cal went viral for its lack of fans in The Coliseum because of the heat. It was 95 degrees with 54% humidity. This week a heat wave across the Southeast has absolutely blistering temperatures across the SEC. Alabama may have its hottest game in the last 20 years at 11 a.m. in Tuscaloosa. South Carolina will see temperatures in the triple digits at Williams-Brice Stadium. Athens, Georgia however may be the hottest place in America on Saturday. The heat index for Georgia’s 2:00 p.m. game against Tennessee State will be between 120 and 125 degrees.

Game day in Baton Rouge has been unlike any other

The first College Gameday of the season, and the 500th road trip in the history of the show, took place in Baton Rouge this morning, and it was absolutely electric.

There was a rain delay, a flyover, a mini concert from Lainey Wilson that featured “Calling Baton Rouge”, and some of the best signs in years. Here’s a look at some of the highlights from this morning’s episode.
