The New Orleans Saints announced six roster moves on Saturday ahead of their Week 5 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings, including activating two young defenders from Injured Reserve.
The Saints have activated linebacker Jaylan Ford and rookie safety Lorenzo Styles Jr. from the injury list. Both players practiced throughout the week after the Saints opened their practice windows following the Week 4 game.
Both players will provide the Saints with quality depth along the defensive second level and secondary. Both will also likely contribute immediately on special teams.
New Orleans also elevated two players for game day in offensive lineman Easton Kilty, as well as wide receiver Cedric Tillman.
Kilty was a standout throughout the preseason for New Orleans and will now provide some additional depth against the Vikings. The Saints can also use Kilty as a sixth offensive lineman to counter the Vikings’ pressure packages.
Tillman, a 6-foot-3, 213-pound wide receiver with great movement speed, gives the Saints another big-bodied pass-catcher that can be a threat on the outside and help out in the run game as a blocker.
In order to make room for Ford and Styles, the Saints waived wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr. and cornerback Decamerion Richardson.
