After accumulating the sixth-lowest rushing yards output (18th worst in franchise history during their Week 7 loss in Paris, France, New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore told the local media that staff changes have not been made in response to the performance.
“We have not,” Moore said. “We’ve had a similar path the last two years and it’s similar to what we did in Philadelphia as far as just the structure of how meetings occur. During a bye week, we’ve got an opportunity to really evaluate how we can improve, how we can get better, how we can be more efficient and consistent in the run game.”
The questions around the team’s rushing performance aren’t limited to their 16-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, they’ve been continuous throughout the season and beyond.
The team has not had a 100-yard rusher in a game this year, and in the staff’s tenure, it has only run for 100 yards as a team in nine of their games since 2025.
New Orleans is one of two teams that does not currently have a 200-yard rusher through the first seven weeks of the 2026 season.
But a recent flash of success appears to be enough for the team to remain calm and not overreact yet to their otherwise inconsistent run game.
“We weren’t able to run the ball well this game,” Moore said. “So, they’ll get to look into that, find an opportunity to grow and play more like what it looked like in New York because obviously we’ve seen both sides over this run stretch. We saw a game where we ran the ball well and we saw a game where we did not run the ball well.”
With no changes to the decision makers, or how meetings are conducted, the Saints will then have to look at the structure of the run game itself for potential changes in order to drive improvement.
New Orleans has continued to trust its process with the belief that results will come. But questions are only getting louder about the team’s ability to improve and have success.
This year’s bye week will be their latest test.
