Trade rumors circulating around pair of Saints players

The NFL trade deadline is set for Tuesday, Nov. 10, two days after the New Orleans Saints host the Cleveland Browns and two Saints players already have some rumors swirling around a potential move.

Per The Athletic’s Jonathan Jones, veteran safety Justin Reid and running back Kendre Miller are names to watch that could depart from New Orleans should the team look to sell at the deadline.

Reid, a Louisiana native, was acquired via free agency ahead of the 2025 season when the team transitioned away from former safety Tyrann Mathieu and has, thus far, been inconsistent at best.

He had a strong first year with the team, but in 2026 is rated as the No. 147 safety out of 162 by Pro Football Focus with a 17.4 missed tackle rate, an 83.3% completion percentage surrendered along with a 131.9 pass rating allowed when targeted as the nearest defender.

The Saints have a promising safety in second-year defender Jonas Sanker and another young, but experienced option in Jordan Howden to whom they could turn to after making such a move.

Replacing Sanker in the STAR/slot role, however, would be necessary if the team decided to turn to him.

As for Miller, the Saints’ run game hasn’t exactly been productive this year, averaging 86 rushing yards per carry and leading to the firing of run game coordinator T.J. Paganetti. Moving on from Miller feels like a stretch, considering that he’s been one of the team’s most reliable rushers and pass protectors.

But with the return of veteran back Travis Etienne Jr. from IR, perhaps the right offer would persuade the Saints to move Miller who is on the final year of his rookie deal.

Jones also made mention of teams monitoring running back Alvin Kamara, though the veteran rusher has made it very clear that he has no interest in playing elsewhere. However, if a title-contending team were to call, perhaps the right situation could change things. Otherwise, expecting Kamara to remain in New Orleans is the most realistic case for now.

The one thing that does feel certain is that if the Saints are active at the trade deadline, it’s likely in an attempt to recoup draft picks, rather than spend capital to add talent. New Orleans has recently begun leaning into its “rebuild” persona. This would just be the latest embrace of that.
