NEW ORLEANS – It’s time to add another record to running back Alvin Kamara’s resume. The New Orleans Saints rusher came into Sunday’s game only 12 yards away from the franchise’s career rushing yards record and it took just two carries to get it done.
After a 7-yard run in the first quarter, Kamara again etches his name into the Saints’ history books and further solidifies his legacy in New Orleans.
With that carry to put him up to 6,507 yards, Kamara onow wns the all-time franchise records for rushing yards, yards from scrimmage, rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns and carries. He set his latest record one day after being named a team captain for the remainder of the season.
There are a lot of games left for Kamara in black and gold, thanks to an in-season two-year extension. That should allow him to build some distance in a record that is set to stand for quite a while.
Kamara was the subject of trade rumors as his contract negotiations were ongoing. But the running back made it clear that he had only one goal: to finish his career with the team that drafted him in New Orleans. In doing so, he’ll now be remembered and recognized as one of the franchise’s greatest players and perhaps the best running back to ever suit up for the team.
