William Weathers is a 44-year veteran sportswriter whose career has spanned over five newspapers and two websites in Louisiana.

Weathers, 62, is a native of Lafayette who has spent the past 27 years in Baton Rouge, with an emphasis on LSU athletics and high school sports, primarily for the Baton Rouge Advocate in both a full-time and part-time capacity.

He was part of the coverage of LSU football’s national championships in 2003 and 2007, was the lead reporter on the coverage of LSU women’s basketball’s five straight trips to the Women’s Final Four, and LSU softball’s two trips to the Women’s College World Series.

Responsibilities have also included editing and page design.

Weathers is married to Lisa Broussard Weathers of Abbeville and has a son, Eli, and three stepsons, Corey, Blake and Quinton. He’s currently president of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association and is a voting member of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.
