Report: Gerald Chatman declines LSU, stays at Florida

With the news of Bo Davis leaving Baton Rouge for the Saints last week, LSU has been searching for a new defensive line coach before Spring practice begins.
Brian Kelly and his staff will now have to continue that search. One of their first targets has turned them down. Florida defensive line coach Gerald Chatman announced that he will be staying in Gainesville.

Chatman was a huge help to the Gator defense in year one on the staff. They recorded 17 more sacks and 28 more tackles-for-loss in 2024 than they did in 2023. Additionally, they registered 36 more pressures and finished No. 16 in all of FBS in sacks with 39.
LSU isn’t just searching for a coach to fill this role—the Tigers need stability. This hire will mark their eighth defensive line coach since 2020.
