Saints add Jermaine Jackson to practice squad

It didn’t take long to figure out what the New Orleans Saints would do to fill out their recently created practice squad vacancy.
The Saints announced to local media that the team has signed wide receiver and return specialist Jermaine Jackson to the practice squad.
A spot was opened up with the team also deciding to terminate the contract of running back Jacob Kibodi, who was a preseason star in the final exhibition game. With fellow running back Kendre Miller expected to return from Injured Reserve in the coming weeks (or days), the team must feel comfortable about its running back room.
The same may not be able to be said about their wide receiver group. While he played a remarkable game, wide receiver Chris Olave is nursing a hamstring injury. Slot wideout Cedrick Wilson Jr. played Sunday’s Week 4 matchup days after suffering an ankle injury in practice, and second-year receiver A.T. Perry is managing a hamstring injury of his own.
Jackson provides depth not only at wide receiver but also as a return specialist. He was with the Saints during their offseason activities and training camp, where he managed some injuries of his own. During that time, he served as one of the primary kick returners beside wideout Rashid Shaheed.
His reunion with the team could signal injury concerns at the position. It could also simply be that the team wants to have additional options available should any further complications set in at a later point. The Saints’ will return to practice on Thursday this week thanks to their upcoming Monday Night contest with the Kansas City Chiefs. At that time, it will become apparent just what the receiver room is looking like and how Jackson contributes.
