The SEC breaks the NCAA tournament record with 14 teams

After five months of prognosticating and five frantic days of updates for Cinderella teams on the bubble, it turns out that Joe Lunardi was wrong all along.
Saturday and Sunday’s projections had Texas being one of the last four teams out of the tournament. However, at 6 PM ET, the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee told the Longhorns to get their glass slippers out of the trash and book flights for Dayton.

With Texas earning a No. 11 Seed the SEC officially landed 14 teams in this year’s NCAA Tournament. Not only did they set a new record, they smashed the previous record of 11 set by the Big East in 2011.
