Alabama defensive back apologizes for outburst

Alabama defensive back Malachi Moore has been the subject of a lot of scrutiny following his on-field antics after Alabama’s, 40-35, loss to Vanderbilt on Saturday. Moore, a fifth year senior and two-time captain, threw an absolute tantrum in the waning moments of the game.

Frustrations seemingly boiled over for the senior after he and his teammates allowed Vanderbilt to convert a final first down to run the clock out. Moore reacted by throwing his mouthpiece, screaming at his teammates and refusing to come off the field despite defensive coordinator Kane Wommack and head coach Kalen DeBoer calling for him to do so.

Video of the reaction sparked outrage from fans, media, and former players all over the internet. On Monday, Malachi Moore released this statement via his social media as an apology.

There is no word yet on whether or not he will face any suspension. Alabama plays host to South Carolina this Saturday in Tuscaloosa.
