LSU Among SEC favorites as Texas Tech odds shift

Matthew Hinton

With conference championship futures now available, LSU and Texas Tech are two of the most fascinating teams entering the 2026 season.

LSU opens at +700 to win the SEC, trailing only Texas (+280) and Georgia (+350). The Tigers are firmly in the conference title conversation and appear positioned for another run at the College Football Playoff. With one of the league’s most talented rosters and championship expectations surrounding the program, LSU offers intriguing value compared to the SEC favorites.

Texas Tech, meanwhile, is still the betting favorite to win the Big 12 at -105, but the outlook has changed dramatically. Quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who was expected to be the centerpiece of the Red Raiders’ offense, has elected to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft and will not play for Texas Tech this season. His departure ends a lengthy eligibility battle and leaves the Red Raiders searching for answers at the game’s most important position. Despite remaining the conference favorite, Texas Tech now faces significantly more uncertainty heading into the fall.
