Another week in the SEC has come and gone. Texas A&M scored the biggest win of the weekend to remain unbeaten in league play. Auburn finally got a conference win. And Vanderbilt hung in there with another heavyweight. Here are the ‘Numbers to Know’ from Saturday.
24: Oklahoma had 24 total first downs against Ole Miss, that’s the most they had in any game this season.
329: Total offensive yards for Oklahoma against Ole Miss which is the most they have gained in any SEC game this year
22: Completions for Jackson Arnold against Ole Miss which is the most of any OU quarterback this season.
22: Sacks allowed by Oklahoma in the last three games combined. They would rank 121st in FBS in sacks allowed this entire season in just the last three games.
0: Combined third down conversions for Alabama and Missouri in the first half on Saturday.
266: Arkansas’s 58 points against Mississippi State gives them a total of 266 points through eight games this season. That’s more than they’ve scored in three of their last six overall seasons.
673: Total yards from Arkansas’s offense against Mississippi State. That’s the fourth most yards they’ve had in any game in the last 10 seasons and two of those four have come this season with Bobby Petrino as the offensive coordinator.
3: Vanderbilt had three turnovers on Saturday against Texas. They had two all season prior to Saturday.
12: Missouri had allowed only 16 plays of 20 or more yards all season in their first seven games. They allowed twelve against Alabama.
59: Missouri was shutout for the first time in 59 games dating back to their 2019 loss at Georgia.
498: Auburn gained 498 total yards against Kentucky which is the most the Tigers have had against an SEC opponent this season and the second most in the Hugh Freeze era.
2: Auburn has won the turnover battle in each of their last two games. They failed to win the turnover battle in 11 straight games prior to the last two weeks.
2: Jarquez Hunter has recorded 20 or more carries in a game just twice in his career. They’ve both been this season, and in those two games he’s rushed for 10 yards per carry and a total of 430 yards including a career high 278 on Saturday against Kentucky.
4.1: LSU average yards per play in the second half against Texas A&M. The Tigers averaged 7.9 yards per play in the first half while building a 17-7 lead.
5: Pre-snap penalties for LSU against Texas A&M
50: LSU attempted 50 passes against Texas A&M which is the third most in a game in the last nine years for the Tigers. It’s only the fourth time in the last decade they’ve attempted 50 or more passes in a game, and two of those four have come in the last three weeks.
3: LSU had three more turnovers than rushing yards in the second half against Texas A&M. The Tigers had 12 rushes for a combined zero yards in the final 30 minutes Saturday night.
-22.9: Garrett Nussmeier is completing 22.9 percent less (46.5) of his passes against ranked opponents this season compared to unranked opponents. Against unranked teams Nussmeier 69.4 percent of his passes in six games against unranked teams so far this season.
31: Texas A&M scored 31 points in the second half against LSU which is the most points they’ve scored in a second half in their last 45 games dating back to Kent State in the 2021 season opener.
