The bye week couldn’t have come at a better time for Auburn and quarterback Payton Thorne last week.
According to reports, Thorne was unable to practice for the entire week after suffering a shoulder injury in the second half of the Vanderbilt game.
There’s been no word yet on whether or not he will be limited this week or whether his status will be in jeopardy for Saturday’s game against Texas A&M. Freeze was asked about that on Monday during his press conference.
“We’ll see how this week goes with that, and with the others getting reps — and go from there,” said Freeze.
Thorne was benched earlier this season after throwing four interceptions in a loss to Cal at home. He was replaced by Hank Brown, but ultimately replaced Brown a game and a half later after Brown threw multiple interceptions in his start against Arkansas.
Thorne has over 2,000 total yards of offense this season with 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 62.9 percent of his passes. Auburn hosts No. 14 Texas A&M this Saturday.
