We are back again for another installment of my SEC Quarterback Rankings. Will anyone surpass Jaxson Dart? Probably not. Also, if you’re reading this, Garrett Nussmeier and Carson Beck just threw two more interceptions. Here we go.
- Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss
Jaxson Dart was awesome against Georgia in Ole Miss’s landmark win Saturday. He threw an interception early but was fantastic the rest of the game even though he was battling through injury. The win may have punched the Rebels ticket to the playoff which means we get postseason Lane Kiffin and Jaxson Dart on a national stage? Sign me up.
- Jalen Milroe, Alabama
He’s had his struggles this season, but Saturday we got the version of Jalen Milroe that seemed locked in and ready to put a team on his back on a playoff run– a literal run. In the two biggest games of the season, Georgia and LSU, we have seen Milroe beat two opponents with his arm and his legs. Saturday showed just how dangerous he can still be.
- Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt
The clock hit midnight for Vandy and Pavia, but he still had a good game against South Carolina. He has been the most consistent quarterback and leader of any signal caller in the league this year. Suing the NCAA probably means he deserves to be No. 1 overall.
- Quinn Ewers, Texas
Ewers was fantastic against Florida and Vanderbilt. That may beg the question, is Quinn Ewers only good against average and below average competition? That Georgia game is hard to forget, and we’ll have more of an answer to that question when he goes to College Station in a few weeks. But for now, he stays at four for quarterback rankings and last in snapchat rankings.
- LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina
Argue with a wall if you don’t like this pick. In his last four games, LaNorris Sellers has eight touchdowns and only one interception. He’s completing nearly 65 percent of his passes, and he’s set a career high in passing yards in three of those four games. He’s playing his best football right now, and frankly his best has been much better than some other notable quarterbacks.
- Nico Iamaleava, Tennessee
Nico is finally settling in it seems and becoming what a lot of us thought he could be in this offense. Granted, it was against Mississippi State, and their defense is horrible. Nico looked very good on Saturday. He finished 8-of-13 for 174 and two touchdowns. Most importantly, he had no turnovers, and he is starting to connect on deep balls that he was missing earlier in the season.
- Marcel Reed, Texas A&M
Sure, why not. The Aggies got embarrassed by South Carolina, but it will be interesting to see them off the bye week and closing out the season especially with Texas coming to town.
- Taylen Green, Arkansas
Green has been electric at times this year, but he’s also been good for at least one turnover it seems like every week. Regardless, he still ranks in the top of the league in yards per game and total yards per play. He’s been really good for Arkansas this season, and if he can get some actual help around him at the skill positions, watch out.
- Payton Thorne, Auburn
Thorne has thrown only one interception in his last four games and is completing over 65 percent of his passes since getting benched in week three of the season. Auburn isn’t winning, but it’s not all on Thorne. He’s also playing through an injury. Regardless, his numbers are still deserving to be at nine on this list ahead of Nussmeier and Beck which is something I never thought I’d say.
- Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
Nussmeier was No. 1 on this list like a month ago, but since then he has gone off the rails. He has thrown at least two interceptions in four of his last five games and 11 total in that time span. He needs to get better at protecting the football for sure, but he also needs some help from the run game. That’s all I have to say about that.
Bottom Six
- Michael Van Buren, Mississippi State
- Carson Beck, Georgia
- Drew Pyne, Missouri
- Aidan Warner, Florida
- Brock Vandagriff, Kentucky
- Jackson Arnold, Oklahoma
