Two of the biggest brands in college football have agreed to a home-and-home series. Notre Dame and Texas announced Tuesday that the two blue blood programs will meet in 2028 and 2029.
Texas will travel to South Bend in 2028, and the Irish will visit Austin the following year. The Longhorns and Irish have played each other 12 times previously, even playing two different home-and-home series in the 1950s, 1990s, and 2010s. This will be the first time facing each other since 2016.
Notre Dame is no stranger to the SEC, having traveled to College Station to play Texas A&M in this year’s season opener. The Irish also played Georgia and Vanderbilt within the last decade. The Texas game being slated for 2028 and 2029 is interesting because Notre Dame already has an SEC opponent scheduled those years, playing home games against Arkansas in 2028 and Alabama in 2029.
