Alabama linebacker Deontae Lawson will miss the remainder of the 2024 season with a lower leg injury. Head coach Kalen DeBoer announced the news at his Monday press conference.
Lawson, a senior, has been the quarterback of the defense and a three-year starter for the Crimson Tide. He suffered the injury in the first half of the Oklahoma game on Saturday. He is second on the team in tackles this season with 76 and is the No. 5 off ball linebacker in next year’s NFL Draft according to Mel Kiper, Jr.
There’s no word yet on the specifics of the injury but Lawson will miss the remainder of the year at the very least. He will be replaced by former Junior College transfer Justin Jefferson who is also a senior.
