Auburn landed five star quarterback Deuce Knight during Early Signing Period. He’ll add to a quarterback room that includes Elite 11 participant Walker White who will enter his second season on The Plains. Now the question becomes if Auburn and Freeze will dip into the portal as well.
“You’re going to have four quarterbacks on your roster. I don’t care what school you go to, some may choose to have five, but we’re at least going to have four quarterbacks on our roster, and currently we have three,” Freeze told 247Sports.
“So we’re looking, you know, obviously, to have a fourth guy in there, and not sure exactly what that looks like right now, because not sure who all is going in the portal and all of that, but excited about getting the work with Deuce, Hank and Walker for sure. And Whoever we add as that fourth guy.”
Payton Thorne was serviceable in 2024. However, when there were portal players within reach last offseason like Cam Ward, many wonder why Hugh Freeze and the Tigers didn’t pursue the playmaker in the portal.
Quarterback will definitely be a position the Tigers address this offseason with Thorne out of eligibility and backup Holden Greiner is expected to enter the portal when it officially opens on December 9th.
