METAIRIE, La – After getting their fifth win of the season last week, the New Orleans Saints returned to the practice field Wednesday with all eyes on the quarterback rotation. However, for attendance, a missing running back stole some of the attention. The Saints will need their run game desperately against the Washington Commanders this week, but they’re starting their preparation massively shorthanded.
Here is the attendance from the portion of Saints practice that was open to the media:
Not seen:
QB Derek Carr
RB Alvin Kamara
LB D’Marco Jackson
While Carr and Jackson are no surprise considering both left Sunday’s game against the New York Giants with injury, not having Kamara on the field could be a bit of a gut-punch if the issue is injury-related. Kamara has played through several injuries this season including broken ribs and a broken hand. If he’s off the field for injury purposes, it could be bad news for New Orleans. The Saints will need their run game going on Sunday against the Commanders and Kamara’s availability will be keenly in focus leading up to the game.
The Saints and Commanders will be releasing their injury reports Wednesday afternoon. At which time more information will be available.
Interim head coach Darren Rizzi is sure to discuss the situation as well, with more information to come regarding the team’s ongoing quarterback conversation as well.
