Auburn became the new No. 1 team in the country, following their eighth-straight win and Tennessee’s embarrassing 30-point loss to Florida. The Vols dropped to No. 6 overall, making them just the fourth-highest-ranked team in the conference.
Georgia made their season debut at No. 23, the first time the Bulldogs have been ranked since the 2011 season.
Alabama and Florida both moved up with Alabama to No. 4 and the Gators jumping three spots to No. 5. Kentucky dropped two spots following a road loss to then-unranked Georgia, despite a road win against No. 15 Mississippi State.
Nine SEC teams are ranked, with Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Ole Miss finding homes at Nos. 11, 15, and 21, respectively. Arkansas was the lone team to fall out of the rankings after their 24-point loss to Tennessee. Four other teams also received votes.
