The New Orleans Saints may have committed to the idea of Derek Carr as their starting quarterback in 2025. But that doesn’t say much of anything about 2026. Not to mention that, through contract talks, things could change quickly between now and Week One.
The Saints and Carr are expected to discuss numerous possible ways to adjust the signal callers contract, with a simple restructure being the easiest path forward. But if talks break down as the two try to land on a win-win arrangement, anything is possible.
While the Saints have met with the year’s top two quarterbacks, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward of Miami, a trade to shoot up the board to nab one of them is unlikely. Should one fall, or a more realistic option be available at a later point in the draft, New Orleans could pounce.
With that in mind, the Saints should have their eye on several possible prospects at the position during Saturday’s Combine workouts and on-field drills.
