Two stars of LSU’s 2007 national championship team are teammates once again.
Matt Flynn is joining Jacob Hester as the new morning co-host on 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge. Flynn replaces T-Bob Hebert, who accepted a position with Barstool Sports after eight years at Guaranty Media.
Flynn was the quarterback of the 2007 LSU squad and played seven NFL seasons, winning Super Bowl XLV with the Green Bay Packers.
While he’s taking on an expanded role, Flynn is hardly a stranger to the station’s audience. He has been a weekly contributor on “Hangin’ with Hester”–Hester’s evening show that he began hosting in 2018–and “Off the Bench.”
Hester joined OTB in 2021 and will assume the host role with the new pairing. The show will continue with the same name, its third iteration.
“Back at LSU, Flynn called the plays and I did the heavy lifting,” Hester said. “Nothing has changed, except now it’s on live radio. Honestly, I just needed someone to blame when things go off the rails,” he joked. “And who better than my good friend and old signal caller? I’m fired up for all the chaotic energy and pro-level sports takes we’re about to unleash on your morning commute.”
OTB debuted in 2017 with Jordy Culotta and Hebert. When Culotta left the show in 2021, Hester left his mid-day role with the station to team with Hebert. Now, Hester and Flynn will man morning drive weekdays from 7-10 a.m. The show runs in syndication in Alexandria on 94.7 ESPN and on 1130 AM The Tiger in Shreveport.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Matt Flynn to the daily lineup,” said 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge program director Matt Moscona. “He checks every box that we were looking for: deep knowledge of the teams we cover, credibility with our audience and a dynamic on air personality. We feel like this will be talk radio gold.”
The new pairing will debut June 2.
