No, not that Seth Green. But nonetheless, someone gets to say “cha-ching!”
Per ESPN’s Katherine Terrell, the New Orleans Saints signed former Houston Cougars tight end Seth Green.
Green most recently played for the UFL’s Arlington Renegades, who finished 5-5 in this year’s season which concluded on June 14. Once the season ended, Green was allowed to sign with an NFL team.
He worked out with the Saints last week.
He finished his Renegades season with 13 receptions, 159 reclining yards, and a touchdown catch.
Green is particularly intriguing, not because of what he did in the UFL, but because of his trajectory throughout college.
He was recruited as a quarterback, eventually landing with the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Upon his arrival in the Twin Cities area, he moved to wide receiver. While at wideout, he took the majority of his snaps as a wildcat quarterback. He finished his Minnesota career with more rushing yards (388) than receiving yards (83).

He ran the ball 114 times in Minnesota versus his six receptions. He also totaled 15 rushing touchdowns and completed six of his eight collegiate passing attempts for 57 yards and three touchdown passes. Both of his incompletions were interceptions.
After transferring to Houston, he played a more purely-focused role at his new position, tight end. He had no rushes with the Cougars and caught 13 passes for 157 receiving yards and three touchdown catches.
Green would likely continue his tight end focus in New Orleans. Although, it is good for the 6-foot-3 and 240 pound player that he has a ton of versatility to his game. It will help separate him from an otherwise crowded room.

The newly-signed pass-catch joins tight ends Juwan Johnson, Foster Moreau, Dallin Holker, Jack Stoll, Molokai Matavao, Treyton Welch, and Michael Jacobson at the position.
