OMAHA, Neb.– Coastal Carolina is going to rest Jacob Morrison on day one of the championship series.
Morrison, the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year, is 12-0 with a 2.08 ERA on the season. He’s struck out 102 hitters in 104 innings and worked seven strong innings on Monday afternoon against Oregon State, retiring 16 straight Beavers at one point.
Instead of Morrison, the Chanticleers will throw No. 2 starter Cameron Flukey at the Tigers. Flukey, a 6-foot-6 right-hander is 7-1 on the season with a 3.29 ERA. He’s racked up 109 strikeouts in 95.2 innings of work this season.
Flukey was called on out of the bullpen in Coastal’s CWS-opening win over Arizona. He four innings and allowed two runs against the Wildcats.
Jay Johnson has not named a starting pitcher for LSU, but ace Kade Anderson will be on full rest on Saturday. He’s the likely option with Anthony Eyanson pitching on Sunday.
