After selecting Oklahoma guard Jeremiah Fears seventh overall, the Pelicans did not wait to add a second player to their roster.

New Orleans traded the 23rd pick and an unprotected 2026 first round selection to Atlanta for the draft rights to Derik Queen, the 13th pick in the draft.

Queen is a 6-foot-10, 240 pound center from Maryland. In his lone season with the Terrapins, Queen started all 36 games, averaging 16.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.

New Orleans also holds the 40th pick in this year’s draft.
