Paul Skenes is an MLB All-Star for the second time in as many seasons.
Last year, Skenes became the first rookie to start the mid-summer classic since Hideo Nomo in 1995.
In his second season in the big league, Skenes leads baseball with a 2.03 ERA and a 4.5 Wins Above Replacement mark. He’s racked up 115 strikeouts in 111 innings. (All stats entering Sunday)
His 5.8 hits allowed per nine innings is also the best in the league.
Despite his brilliant work, his record is just 4-7 as the Pirates have struggled on offensive and in the bullpen.

Skenes will join the National League squad in Atlanta. A starting pitcher will be announced a couple of days before the July 15 game. Skenes will garner a chance at the honor again. Philadelphia’s Zach Wheeler leads the league in strikeouts and may get consideration as well.
