The New Orleans Pelicans and defensive ace Herb Jones have agreed to a three-year, $68 million extension, Shams Charania reported Thursday.

The deal will keep Jones in New Orleans for the next five years, with a player option for the 2029-30 season. Jones has $97 million remaining on his contract with the new terms.
Jones, 26, has developed from a second round pick in 2021 into one of the best defenders in the NBA, being named the the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2024.
During his four-year career, Jones has started 231 of the 240 games he has played in New Orleans, averaging 10.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. His 2024-25 season was cut short after 20 games when he suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
