One of this year’s most highly-anticipated returns for the New Orleans Saints is that of wide receiver Chris Olave.
The fourth-year receiver out of Ohio State saw his season come to an unfortunate and early end last year due to multiple concussions and head injuries. Before then, he was off to a hot start in his career with back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons. Thus, his return in new head coach Kellen Moore’s first year has all eyes on the pass-catcher.
Olave will be the focus of the Saints’ passing game in 2025. Despite the fact that he’ll have a young starting quarterback, that doesn’t project to be a negative for him.
Both passer options Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough have already shown some chemistry with Olave during OTAs and mandatory minicamp. Both also have the arm to push the ball down the field.
Meanwhile, Olave should be able to provide them a go-to option in the short and intermediate areas. A complementary approach between him and his passer will be best taken advantage of all over the field.
Throughout camp, watching Olave flourish in a multi-level role and stay healthy will be one of the most important elements of the team’s success going into 2025.
