It’s a light summer for the LSU Tigers after playing through June to win the College World Series.
Many rostered players are taking the summer off before classes resume in August.
However, a few Tigers have had strong summer league showing thus far.
Mavrick Rizy, RHP, Brewster Whitecaps (Cape Cod League)
- Rizy has dominated as a reliver on The Cape. In 6.2 innings of work, he’s faced 23 batters an only allowed two baserunners. He’s yielded just a hit and a hit by pitch with 12 strikeouts and zero walks. It’s easy to see what Chase Shores did down the stretch for LSU and envision a similar role for the towering right-hander, Rizy. This summer is a great step in the right direction.
If you weren’t aware, @BrewsterCaps’ Mavrick Rizy’s (@LSUbaseball) slider is absolutely disgusting.
Here he is carving up back-to-back hitters with swords — nasty stuff from @MavrickRizy. #geauxtigers #lsubaseball pic.twitter.com/MlGV700yre

John Pearson, 1B/3B, La Crosse Loggers (Northwoods League)
- Pearson is getting a chance to play a bunch and is swinging the bat very well. In 18 games, he’ s 19-for-70 (.271) with four double and three homers. He’s drawn eight walks with 16 strikeouts. Keep in mind the Northwoods League, like many others, is a wooden bat league that favors pitching. Pearson is a talented right-handed hitter that just took on a lot of competition via the transfer portal– Seth Dardar, Brayden Simpson, Trent Caraway and Zach Yorke. This has been an important summer for him to swing the bat a little bit.
Might want to include John Pearson when building those 2026 projected lineups. Three straight games with a double for @John_Pearson_2 #lsubaseball @laxloggers pic.twitter.com/s24I1YthWv

Cade Arrambide, C, Chatham Anglers (Cape Code League)
- Arrambide hasn’t played a ton because Chatham has four catchers. In nine games, he’s just 5-for-32 (.192) with three walks and 15 strikeouts. The offensive flashes he showed in the midweek were obvious, but the most important thing for the sophomore-to-be is defense. That’s obviously not trackable for me in Baton Rouge while the games are happening in Massachusetts, but reps always help.
Deven Sheerin, RHP, Falmouth Commodores (Cape Cod League)
- Sheerin was on The Cape while his teammates were in Omaha. He needs inning after the ACL tear that kept him out for the season. He’s pitched in eight games with one start. In 12.1 innings, he’s allowed 11 hits and six earned runs. He has struck out 12 and walked eight. Rust is to be expected for Sheerin coming off injury, but he’ll be in competition for a starting spot when the fall rolls around.
Deven Sheerin tossed 2.1 scoreless, no-hit innings in relief for @FalCommodores yesterday, striking out 4. Looking forward to seeing a healthy @DevenSheerin back in purple and gold next season. #lsubaseball @OfficialCCBL pic.twitter.com/N6E1kWeQiA

Eddie Yamin, C/1B, Falmouth Commodores (Cape Cod League)
- Yamin is just 2-for-4 with a walk on the official Cape Cod League site. After a redshirt year, any at bats the former Dayton standout can get are a positive.
Eddie Yamin made his summer ball debut for the @FalCommodores in the Cape Cod League and it couldn’t have gone any better. The 6’5”, 207 lb catcher redshirted at LSU this past season but is a name to watch for 2026. #LSUbaseball pic.twitter.com/ItHtNl8w6U
