We are back, baby. Fall camps are underway across the SEC. Here’s the biggest question I have for each team heading into the 2025 preseason.
Alabama
We’ve seen the highs from Kalen DeBoer, but has he, and this team, grown enough to avoid the lows?
Arkansas
Can Bobby Petrino and Taylen Green keep Sam Pittman employed?
Auburn
How many resources does Hugh Freeze need to actually be successful? Do we finally find out this year if the millions he was given turned him into Dave Roberts from the Dodgers or Bernie Madoff?
Florida
Are there enough weapons around DJ Lagway to live up to the hype and keep Billy Napier off the hot seat once again? Also, are y’all going to alert the masses with an update every single time there’s a minor injury like one of those navigation apps that speaks through the best part of the song I’m listening to?
Georgia
Is Kirby Smart actually that confident in Gunnar Stockton or is he just the best/only option they have? Also, who is driving the team to and from practice?
Kentucky
Transfer QB Zach Calzada went to Texas A&M. Do you think Mark Stoops wishes he did a few off-seasons ago?
LSU
Mississippi State
There are 61 new players on this year’s roster between the portal and last year’s signing class. Can you take the next step as a program and find something to hang your hat on: Lebby’s offense working and/or a few more wins?
Missouri
Missouri brought in a 1400 yard RB, the SEC’s leading returner for yards and receptions at WR and a former five star EDGE from UGA. How long until the rest of the SEC notices what they’re building in CoMo? Also, can Eli Drinkwitz open every Media Days with a tight 10-15 minutes of standup?
Oklahoma
Is John Mateer, or any of the 36 transfers you brought in, actually good enough to navigate that schedule? Or is Oklahoma turning into the next USC: a once-great program treading water in mediocrity? Also, what SPF is Brent Venables using in his sunscreen? My man is dang near see through.
Ole Miss
The offense will be fine. It’s always more than fine under Lane Kiffin. But how does Pete Golding plan to replace 55 percent of the Rebels production on defense, as well as five of their top six sack leaders on a unit that registered the third most in the country with 52? Also, Lane looks younger. What kind of moisturizer is he working with?
South Carolina
Can they replace five NFL Draft Picks on defense? Also, how long did it take for Shane Beamer and his therapist to work through the Bret Beleima bowl game bullying from last year’s Cheez-It Bowl?
Tennessee
Will there be stability at the quarterback position or will the position be juggled trying to find the best option into October or even later? Also, what do you hate more: Nico Iamaleava’s dad or being a civil, normal adult to strangers on social media? Don’t answer that.
Texas
Will Texas have their first victim of the SEC gauntlet moment where they lose a game no one expects them to lose? Also, what do y’all love the most: Texas, Talking about Texas, asking others to talk about Texas, forcing others to talk about Texas, or getting involved in a conversation you weren’t included in, that isn’t about Texas, and then finding a way to make it about Texas?
Texas A&M
Can Marcel Reed make a significant leap forward in year two as a quarterback in the SEC. Also, have you considered not playing a single game this season and just writing 8-4 in the standings and record books? Oh yeah, one last thing, have y’all heard about Texas??
Vanderbilt
What’s the ceiling for this team, especially now that they won’t sneak up on anyone thanks to last year’s success? Also, would you rather: go 6-6 and make a bowl again OR go 2-10 but beat Alabama for a second year in a row? Because I mean, how hilarious would that be?
