Bridging momentum from training camp to the regular season is often a challenge. The New Orleans Saints have seen their fair share of those that have come up short. But this year wide receiver Mason Tipton is looking to buck the trend.
For the second year in a row, Tipton is having a remarkable camp.
Last year, he couldn’t carry his strong camp performance into the season, largely due to an injury he suffered midway through training camp.
This season, he’s keeping the momentum going and looking healthy along the way.
Tipton has strung together a series of days with big plays.
- On day one, he and quarterback Spencer Rattler quickly recaptured their chemistry with an impressive connection on a timing-based out route.
- On day two, he reeled in four receptions including a big connection down the left sideline.
- On day five, Tipton reeled in another big pass downfield.
- On day seven, he beat two defenders over the top and Rattler found him for a big touchdown strike.

The camp highlight reel is ablaze with No. 15 all over the field. Even though the big plays catch the “ooh’s and aah’s” of the crowd, his work in the short and intermediate areas have been noticeable, as well.
His biggest tasks this season will be all about staying healthy throughout camp and then bringing the production to game days.
We’ll have to wait and see if he can bridge the gap going into week one. But for now, his strong start as a camp standout is again promising.
