After the New Orleans Saints signed offensive lineman Shane Lemieux, perhaps the writing was on the wall for veteran lineman and former LSU Tiger La’el Collins.
After a workout with the Dallas Cowboys, Collins will return to the team with which his career started, per the Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris. The news came hours after the signing of Lemieux by the Saints.
Collins, in an exclusive interview with 104.5 ESPN Radio Baton Rouge, said that he had spoken with Saints head coach Kellen Moore, who was his former offensive coordinator in Dallas. Moore and Collins were also teammates early in their NFL careers.
The Dallas resident also acknowledged that a return to the Cowboys was also on the table.
New Orleans went to the market following a reported injury to backup guard and 2023 fourth-round pick Nick Saldiveri, but that pursuit ultimately led them back to Lemieux.
