DJ Lagway spent most of the offseason garnering and gathering heaping amounts of praise and projections for this upcoming season. Despite the limited time as the Gators starting QB a season ago, Lagway has generated more hype than any other Gator QB since Tim Tebow.
That praise has temporarily been overshadowed in recent days by concerns about his durability and latest injury.
Lagway returned to his usual spot on Saturday, taking first-team reps at quarterback, according to Nick De La Torre of Florida Victorious.
This comes just a week after he was listed day-to-day with a calf strain. That minor injury ahead of fall camp became a major cloud over the heads of Florida fans ahead the season. It also sparked one of the season’s first (of many) overreactions from fans and media alike, this time questioning whether DJ Lagway is injury-prone.
Lagway suffered a shoulder injury in high school. However, a shoulder injury two years ago and a mild calf strain he’s seemingly already worked through probably doesn’t amount to him being injury prone.
Regardless, it will be something monitored very closely throughout camp and the remainder of the season.
