It was always going to happen eventually. As good as the New Orleans Saints’ injury luck has been throughout training camp, there was bound to be a more significant injury at some point.
That looks to have been the case for offensive lineman Nick Saldiveri who, per NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill, has suffered a leg injury that sent the Saints to the open market.

How serious Saldiveri’s injury is remains unknown at this time, but anything that propels a team to sign a free agent at the position would be more significant than what New Orleans has experienced in camp, so far.
Per NFL Network, the Saints signed offensive lineman Shane Lemieux, who played center for the team last year. While he focused at that position for New Orleans, he also has extensive experience from his pro and collegiate days all along the interior of the offensive line.
Lemieux should provide some important camp depth while battling to return to the roster. His versatility along the line will be beneficial to the Saints.
As for Saldiveri, his career has been injury-riddled since he entered the league. He has been considered a make or break candidate this season and his struggles to stay healthy are a big reason why.
Depending on the severity of this injury, it may complicate (or potentially stifle entirely) his ability to fight for a roster spot.
