LSU running back JT Lindsey has been suspended following his arrest Friday. The freshman turned himself in to LSU police after a warrant for his arrest was issued on charges of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder. Lindsey’s attorney Kris Perret confirmed the suspension when contact by LouisianaSports.net.
WBRZ was the first to report the suspension.
Per LSU athletic policy, any felony arrest of a student athlete results in an immediate and indefinite suspension.
Lindsey was a four-star signee out of Alexandria, who is currently participating in his first fall camp with the Tigers. He was ranked the No. 132 prospect on the On3 Composite and the seventh best running back in the country.
Lindsey’s absence leaves the Tigers thin at running back. Last season’s leading rusher Caden Durham returns along with junior Kaleb Jackson and freshman Harlem Berry.
Ju’Juan Johnson has been playing quarterback for the Tigers since the spring, but he played running back last season after John Emery tore his ACL. Johnson could be an option to move back to running back while the Lindsey situation is litigated.
An LSU spokesperson said, “We are aware and won’t have any comment out of respect for the legal process.”
