It’s gameday for the New Orleans Saints, and beyond the quarterbacks, many eyes will be on the team’s coaching staff.
New playcallers and leaders, head coach Kellen Moore and defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, will get their first crack at calling plays in real game action.
As the two brace for their next coaching chapters, Staley took a moment to highlight what it is that makes Moore such a special coach and playcaller.
Staley complimented Moore on his football pedigree, humility and something that doesn’t often get brought up about the young coach–his competitiveness.
“This game means everything to him,” Staley told WWL-TV’s Doug Mouton in an exclusive interview. “Behind all that humility is a guy that’s as big of a competitor as anybody.”
Moore, and Staley for that matter, will have their first chance to compete against unfamiliar faces Sunday as they square off with the Los Angeles Chargers. Sure, it’s a preseason game and the records don’t count for anything, but that doesn’t mean that a win means nothing.
