A long-awaited update on New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Trevor Penning is finally here.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the 2022 first-rounder has avoided major injury and will only miss “a few weeks” with a foot injury.
#Saints G Trevor Penning, whose move inside has been a promising one for the team’s offensive line, is expected to miss just a few weeks with a foot injury, sources say. Nothing major.

With two preseason games and an off-week on the way, there’s a chance that Penning could be ready for the season opener, or at least very soon after.
Penning appeared in 20 snaps against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday and played well. He allowed no pressures at his new position of left guard, to which he moved over the offseason.
He was replaced by Kyle Hergel against the Chargers.
There is a lot of optimism around the lineman’s trajectory, and not having to miss a considerable amount of time keeps the arrow pointing up for him in an important contract year.
