On Thursday On3’s Pete Nakos gave us a peek behind the curtain in the new world of the NIL era of college football. Everyone knows that quarterback is the most important position in all of sports. That’s why it’s also the highest paid for the most part (not including Shohei or whatever disaster move the New York Mets make every offseason).
Nakos reports that more than 20 quarterbacks will make $1 million or more this season, and at least five will make $3 million or more. Here’s a look at who Nakos listed as the highest paid signal callers in the SEC this year (that we know of).
John Mateer, Oklahoma – $2.5 to $3 million
Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt – $2 million
LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina – $1.8 million
Garrett Nussmeier, LSU – $1.6 million
Marcel Reed, Texas A&M – $1.5 million
DJ Lagway, Florida – $1.5 million
Taylen Green, Arkansas – $1.5 million
Austin Simmons, Ole Miss – $1.5 million
Joey Aguilar, Tennessee – $1.2 million
