METAIRIE, La. – During his Monday press conference, New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore provided an update on a key injury to the team’s offensive line depth.
Offensive lineman Landon Young suffered an ankle injury during Saturday’s loss to the Denver Broncos. The injury resulted in him being carted off the field.
“Landon looks like it might take a little bit of time,” Moore said. “So we’ll see how that one goes, but there’ll be a couple of challenging injuries that came out of that (game).”
The Saints have already lost a couple of offensive linemen for the season with Nick Saldiveri and Will Clapp placed on Injured Reserve (IR). Meanwhile starters Trevor Penning and Taliese Fuaga have also been navigating ailments.
The loss of Young for any extended period of time threatens the team’s tackle depth in particular, which has fewer options on the offseason roster.
If many veteran tackles hit the market with roster cuts coming in around the league until 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Aug. 26, New Orleans could very well be in the market to add more talent.
