METAIRIE, La. – The New Orleans Saints have landed some much-needed tackle depth.
With offensive lineman Landon Young headed to Injured Reserve and his season appearing to be over, the Saints have traded for Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Asim Richards, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Saints are sending a 2028 sixth-round pick for Richards and a 2028 seventh.
This was a major need for New Orleans who had no tackle depth on their roster after Young and Barry Wesley were sent to Injured Reserve. While Wesley is designated to return, it will take some time before he gets back out on the field.
Starting right tackle Taliese Fuaga was also managing a minor knee injury. This move will bring the Saints a little security at the position.
Richards (6-foot-4, 307 pounds) appeared in eight games with the Cowboys in 2025. He has started 204 career snaps at left tackle, with less than ten at both guard spots. He is entering the third year of his 2023 fifth-round contract, giving the Saints a backup option for the next two seasons at minimum.
