Jardin Gilbert will start at strong safety for LSU against Clemson in place of suspended AJ Haulcy, per Gordy Rush of the LSU Sports Radio Network.
Gilbert, a Baton Rouge native, has played in 37 career games with 21 starts combined at Texas A&M and LSU. He played in all 13 games last season with nine starts.
Haulcy, a Houston transfer, is suspended for the first half after being ejected for fighting in his final game at Houston last year against BYU. LSU was only made aware of Haulcy’s suspension this week.
Haulcy earned First Team All Big 12 honors last season with the Cougars. Gilbert missed spring practice while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. He has been a full participant in all of fall camp.
