The New Orleans Saints are again looking for another wide receiver to add to their ranks and this one comes with quite the pedigree.
Per NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, the Saints are expected to host wide receiver Brenden Rice, son of Hall of Fame wideout Jerry Rice, for a workout.
The Saints entered the offseason without a receiver taller than 6-foot-2, but after trading for 6-foot-4 Devaughn Vele, they’ll now host 6-foot-3, 210 pound Rice for a workout.
Rice was a highly touted prospect coming out of USC ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. He shockingly fell all the way to the seventh-round before being selected by the Los Angeles Chargers.
Rice has only appeared in three games his rookie season and recorded no stats in the process. However, during his final year with the Trojans, the big-bodied wideout reeled in 45 receptions for 791 receiving yards and 12 touchdown catches.
The talented receiver could be an intriguing and promising addition to the practice squad or as a depth player on the active roster.
