METAIRIE, La. – The New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals released their first injury report of the season, and the Saints lead the way among the two with five injuries listed. However, only one player did not practice on the active roster.
Here is the information from Wednesday’s injury report:
New Orleans Saints
Did Not Participate:
T/G Trevor Penning (Toe)
Limited Participation:
DT Khristian Boyd (Hand)
S Jordan Howden (Oblique)
CB Alontae Taylor (Groin)
DE Chase Young (Calf)
Most of these injuries are ones that players have been recovering from for multiple days and weeks, so even the limited participation seen here is progress. Boyd, Howden and Taylor were all absent for the team’s most recent practice, marking returns for all three players.
Head coach Kellen Moore said that Young’s calf injury took place during practice. His participation Thursday and Friday will be of high intrigue.
However, per NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill, the injury is not considered serious. The injury is being referred to as simply “calf tightness” for now, but progress will still be important over the coming days as Young will play a vital role for the Saints on Sunday.
Arizona Cardinals
Limited Participation:
OL Will Hernandez (Knee)
Full Participation:
OL Jon Gaines II (Thumb)
Overall, the Cardinals are looking very healthy among their active roster. Hernandez is recovering from his injury and is a key part of the depth on the Cardinals protection unit.
Not listed is defensive tackle Walter Nolan, this year’s first-round selection for Arizona, who will miss the first four games at minimum due to starting the year on the Physically Unable to Perform List.
