Sources tell LouisianaSports.net that Howard injured his oblique on a rushing attempt in the fourth quarter. He attempted to return to the game, but could not continue. Howard will see a specialist in Birmingham, Ala., Thursday to determine the severity of his injury.
Beale will be making his first career start but made three appearaces for the Cajuns in 2024. The Catholic (BR) product led the Bears to three state championships and earned All-State and Offensive MVP honors as a senior in 2023.
Howard began his career at LSU before transferring to Ole Miss where he spent the past two seasons. He won the starting job for his hometown Ragin’ Cajuns and made his first career start Saturday against Rice.
The Cajuns play McNeese Saturday at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium.
