METAIRIE, La. – The New Orleans Saints got both bad and good news on Thursday when it comes to a key injury on their defensive line.
Here is the information from Thursday’s injury report.

DT Khristian Boyd (Hand)

T/G Trevor Penning (Toe)
DE Chase Young (Calf)
Limited Participation
S Jordan Howden (Oblique)
CB Alontae Taylor (Groin)
The big note here is that Young was a midweek downgrade, which is typically indicative of bad news for weekend availability. However, Young was adamant in the locker room on Thursday that the injury will not cause long-term concerns.
Chase Young didn’t provide specifics on his injury but said “hell no” when asked if it’s a long-term concern. He expects to be good soon.

If Young isn’t available for Sunday’s game, it would make sense for rookie pass rusher Fadil Diggs to be elevated. Young has Friday’s practice before game designations are released. If he is listed as questionable, Saturday’s walkthrough could be the determining factor.
Boyd was an upgraded player going from limited on Wednesday to full participation. The defensive tackle is likely to see snaps on Sunday as he rotates with starting nose tackle Davon Godchaux. Seeing both Howden and Taylor remain steady is another positive for the team, this time for its secondary and depth.
Arizona Cardinals
Did Not Participate
DL Dante Stills (Heel)
Limited Participation
OL Will Hernandez (Knee)
LB Owen Pappoe (Quadricep)
Full Participation
OL Jon Gaines II (Thumb)
The Cardinals had a couple of in-practice injuries themselves that led to a pair of downgrades. Both of which are depth players for an active defensive front. That will be important to watch on Friday.
