Missouri completes comeback against Kansas
I’ve said it time and again: Kansas-Missouri is one of the best and most heated rivalries in college sports. That showed early with chippy play and costly penalties.
It was also a horrific start for the home team, as Missouri got down 21-6 in the first quarter. Eli Drinkwitz’s late adjustments proved pivotal, as Missouri’s defense limited Kansas to just 10 points the rest of the way while the Tigers outscored the Jayhawks 36-10 over the final three quarters.
Missouri dominated the stat sheet, as well, outgaining the Jayhawks by 362 yards on offense and 251 in rushing yards alone. Beau Pribula continued his fantastic start to the season going 30-for-39 for 340 yards of offense and three touchdowns.
Missouri trailed 31-28 with a little under nine minutes to go. However, thanks to a fourth down touchdown to go ahead 35-31, they were able to put Kansas away for good. The Tigers finished the game 4-for-5 on fourth down and 10-of-19 on third downs.
Ole Miss escapes Kentucky
Ole Miss and Kentucky continue to frustrate not only each other, but bettors nationwide. Ole Miss left Lexington a winner on Saturday. However, it was an ugly win that shined a light on a lot of deficiencies from both sides, but especially for Ole Miss.
Kentucky got out to a 10-0 lead in the first half. It was an odd game where both quarterbacks left in the fourth quarter due to injury. Kentucky’s Zach Calzada finished with just 50 percent completion percentage, and Ole Miss’ Austin Simmons finished with two interceptions. Neither signal caller finished with a passing touchdown.
The end had sports bettors in fits. Ole Miss entered the game as a -7.5 point favorite. The total for the game was also 51.5.
Ole Miss scored a late field goal with 1:10 left in the game to go up ten points 30-20. However, Kentucky was able to drive almost the length of the field. Mark Stoops elected to kick a field goal with :08 seconds left to pull within seven and kick a field goal. Kentucky attemped an onside kick that was not recovered. However, Stoops and the Wildcats did cover the spread and push the over.
