Jay Johnson certainly put the football home opener to good use.
On Sunday, LSU landed its fourth commitment in less than 48 hours.
Koa Romero, junior from Hahnville High School and the fourth ranked player in the state for the 2027 class, pledged to the national champions.
Romero finished his sophomore season with a .484 batting average and eight home runs. He’s listed as a third baseman and pitcher by Perfect Game.
I’m blessed and excited to announce my commitment to Louisiana State University (LSU)!

Romero hits left-handed and throws right-handed, something Johnson really enjoys in his position players. He joins 2027 RHP Jack Lee, 2026 RHP Coleton Brady, and 6-foot-8 RHP Hayden Morris on the list of commitments for Johnson on Saturday and Sunday.
Not a bad week for the two-time national championship winning coach who just signed an extension that increased his salary to $3.05 million making him the highest paid coach in college baseball.
