METAIRIE, La. – A welcome return hit the field for the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday, albeit a limited one. However, concern continues to mount over the offensive line and the unit’s health.
Here is the information from this week’s injury report.
New Orleans Saints
Did Not Participate
- T Taliese Fuaga (Knee/Back)
- OL Dillon Radunz (Toe)
- DE Chase Young (Calf)
Limited Participation
- WR Trey Palmer (Hamstring)
- T/G Trevor Penning (Toe)
While getting Penning back, at any participation level, is a plus for New Orleans, not having Fuaga and Radunz available is concerning. Per NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill, Fuaga’s injury is expected to be day-to-day. Missing Wednesday’s practice will generate intrigue surrounding the rest of his week.
If Penning and Radunz both end up not being able to hit the field on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, there could be a door opened for undrafted free agent Torricelli Simpkins III, a standout throughout the preseason to step in and see his rookie debut as a starter.
Young is still working his way back to the practice field. Getting him back would be a big boost for the Saints’ pass rush which is currently ranked No. 30 in the league in pressure percentage.
Seattle Seahawks
Did Not Participate
- RB Zach Charbonnet (Foot)
- S Nick Emmanwori (Ankle)
- S Julian Love (Hamstring)
- CB Devin Witherspoon (Knee)
Limited Participation
- LB Derrick Hall (Hip)
- WR Tory Horton (Groin)
- CB Josh Jobe (Knee)
- LB Ernest Jones (Shoulder)
- T Abraham Lucas (Elbow)
The big developments for the Seahawks will center around the defensive side of the ball. Several important pieces did not participate in practice on Wednesday.
