A new study by Fruityking.co.uk reveals that New Orleans Saints cornerback Alontae Taylor ranks in the top ten in best value NFL signings. Philadelphia Eagles center Cam Jurgens tops the list, with each win costing the team just $171,547.
The analysis examined NFL player contracts from 2022 and 2023, calculating the cost per win by dividing a player’s average annual salary by the number of wins their team achieved since signing.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens ranks as the second most cost-effective signing at $177,689 per win.
While Tampa Bay Buccaneers right tackle Luke Goedeke gets third at $181,735 per win.
Detroit Lions defensive end Josh Paschal secured the fourth spot overall, costing just $193,391 per win, followed by Alec Pierce to round out the top five at $206,292 per win.
In sixth is Skyy Moore, costing $215,017 per win, followed by John Metchie in seventh place at $224,171 per win.
Seattle Seahawks outside linebacker Boye Mafe ranked eighth at $237,840 per win.
Kansas City Chiefs defensive end George Karlaftis nearly missed the top 10, coming in ninth at $238,709 per win. The Chiefs’ Super Bowl success contributed significantly to his favorable cost-per-win ratio.
New Orleans Saints cornerback Alontae Taylor rounded out the top 10 at $257,311 per win.

In contrast, Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is the least cost-effective signing in the NFL. Each of the Browns’ wins with Watson on the roster has cost the team over $15.3 million.
A spokesperson for Fruityking.co.uk commented:
“The study shows a stark contrast between the most and least efficient contracts. Jurgens is almost 90% more valuable per dollar than Watson based on team performance, which means it’s possible to build a strong team with great performance, without breaking the bank.
“Players who command a high price tag aren’t always the best choice. Four of the 15 least cost-effective signings were quarterbacks, with Watson, Kyler Murray, Joe Burrow, and Bryce Young all costing their teams over $2.3 million per win. Interestingly, six historic NFL deals in 2024 belonged to quarterbacks, including players such as Patrick Mahomes and Jared Goff.”
